BMW screen doesn't work i still mising parts?!

i bought BMW screen and GPS navigation system for my e46. but it doesn't work and a friend told me that i still need Amplifier and a cable. i want to know what i still miss to make this screen work.
and i heard that there is generations in e46 screen and if i buy the wrong generation Amplifier or cable it doesn't work i don't know if this true or not but if this true i want to know how to tell the generation of your screen.

I'm almost sure you need the antennas to catch the global position .
