Raising the rev limiter on a ECU that has a EWS delete?

Hello people! I own a 98' 318ti which has a M42B18. The car originally had a M44B19, but the previous owner swapped in a M42 because the M44 got rod knock. Since it has an "backdated" engine the car has a ecu which has a EWS delete.
Now here comes my question: I want to raise the revlimiter to 7k by purchasing a performance chip. Will this chip mess with the EWS delete that my ecu currently has?

    Regards Marius

As long as the new ECU also has EWS delete, you'll be fine. If the EWS delete is working correctly now, it'll work correctly with the new ECU - as long as the EWS delete is done to the new ECU.

Raising the rev limiter on a ECU that has a EWS delete?

US cars have ‘flash’ ECU code, no ‘chips’ after 1995.
New flash memory code will have to include EWS delete.

Are you running OBDI ECU with a ‘chip’?
