Rear Sway Bar Fact or Myth

I have read in the past that people were able to put on the rear sway bar on without dropping the sub frame. Every time I have seen it done it was with Sub Frame down.

Has anyone actually done it or seen it done without dropping the Sub Frame?

You can also lower it without completely droping it out, One can do this by them self, It's easy just time consuming, Last time i lowered and installed one day, Raised back up and bolted down a week later. Helped the car get around corners much better. Absolutely best time to upgrade your Diff.

TxGR8White and 8eights, thank you for the reply.

8eights, I have no problem doing the diff, but lowering the Sub Frame might be out of my Back Yard wrenching expertise.

Actually I am swapping the diff, but going back to OEM from a 3;64. You might ask yourself why? Well I am at point where I want to sell my 840ci with what we think of tasteful and expensive modifications, but in reality no one will pay for an 840ci with 190,000 miles the price that I am looking for, therefore the Mods are coming off and going up for sale and then the car will be sold. We saw this with one of our members cars which If I recall correctly, was a Dinan 840ci and there was no buyer for it.

No no not done, just getting started on making the

1993 6 speed to full Dinan TT
finishing up the Sunroof and Headliner rebuild
R&D on drop in replacement for speakers is under way
Other than that the car is done

    The S70 is staying too:
GM being sent out for rebuilt
SuperSprint X pipe and Exhaust are going on
    None custom sound system build

The 840ci is going through "de-modificaion" and sold.

Thanks 8eights, the only experience I have with Dinan TT was Stage III 750 that I drove while back and the car was tame and normal until you hit the throttle then “sleeper” was awake!

I looked into this for my 840 because I have a sway bar to install from Greg K that has been sitting on a shelf for a rather long time. According to Greg, there is a way to finagle the bar into some cars, but not a 1995 840. There is an extra kink for that year and maybe others.

Are there any larger rear bars available that will fit a '91 model?

Yes, I am contemplating taking mine off and it will go up for sale Rear and Front. Front is easy, but the rear is just too much work for me....

Steffan, had a new old stock of them on a shelf some where. PM me and I will send you his email and contact info, or wait and buy mine at a discount

Hi JDP530, this is Stefan and I do have a set of the latest generation K-Bars that will fit your car. As somebody mentioned above, this is probably the single best thing you can do to your suspension on the E31.
