    Progressive 'Snap-Shot' Drained My Battery

Be warned my fellow BMW drivers. After just five days of being parked in my driveway, the 'Snap-Shot' device drained my battery. Had to jump and all is well but just giving a heads-up.

Found in the terms and conditions from Progressive "The device uses a certain amount of current from the battery even when the vehicle is not turned on. Care should be taken in using the device in vehicles that have old or weak batteries, or that may go extended periods without being started." Sorry I'm really bored. But yeah that's annoying cuz who actually reads that and then comes out to a dead battery.

Also any reason why you picked at LTC over say an E38 or E39?

I've been operating a private Town Car service since 2002 and well, if you have a Town Car service, it's best to arrive in a Town Car. And the Panther Platform is bulletproof, they made millions of them, parts are readily available and very affordable. This one is actually my 4th Town Car.

^but at least you "earn" a discount in the long run... if you drive "safe" enough.

Very common with these type devices, if you don't daily the car I highly suggest getting a nice battery tender like the Schwaben Automatic Battery Charger/Maintainer (LINK) to prevent flat battery.

I called Progressive to tell them I would be removing the device when I wasn't driving the car and they said just remove it. They are extending the discount anyway and I still have one on the Town Car. These devices are ALWAYS ON and sending a cellular signal.

I did. The one in my Lincoln is working fine and not having any obvious effect on the battery. As it was pointed out on another forum, the device likely kept the BMW from going to 'sleep'.
