    Wow!

You took the cosmetics to another level, all I strive to do is mimic the factory finish; I feel so inadequate...

    Good job!

    Hi Lars
My head off for you on this top notch project.
Are you still planning to run the standard ECU. It seriously interest me as i would be interested to do the same.

    Hi,
Thank you. Yes I'm using the standard ECU with a software flash for the manual trans. I replied to your PM.

So I have been working on the wiring, I'm waiting for a connector and some terminals to arrive so the 6 speed harness can be plugged in. Since the S85 is DBW the stock S52 throttle pedal wasn't going to work but luckily the S54 is DBW and I have the new bracket. Photo 1 shows the std S52 pedal bracket (left) and the S54 (right) second photo shows everything transferred. I have a potentiometer from a 2001 Z3 but I'm not sure if it will work so I've got one for an S54 coming as well.

Oh yeah I did this on the weekend, removed all the rear suspension, fuel lines, brake lines and fuel tank. Washed and prepped everything for base/clear paint. Now I can say the Randy Forbes reinforcement is complete and is crossed off the list!!

I have a BMW technical manual on the S54 that can tell you exactly what kind of outputs the S54 pedal will provide if that would be of help? Ill dig it out of my box once I have some spare time this week

Got your PM, can't reply, but here ya go:

Think you had it upside down in the pics you sent to me, just rotate it 180 and it'll be fine

Here's the data from my technical manual. Not sure if it will actually help or not but hey...

    Thanks Graham that's very helpful.
I've rotated it 180 like you said. I also noticed that the linkage on yours is stepped, the one that I've got is flat... New linkage has been ordered.

Well i didn't get much time to work on the wiring this week but the new trim panel for the truck arrived. The original one is a little scuffed up, not to bad i guess considering its almost 20 years old.

    You have a truck too?
This car will be something to behold, your attention to detail is something else, nice.

I’m sure it’s been asked already - what did you do with the ES supercharger?

How much did the headers end up costing you?

Also, any chance you will be able to run A/C?

They were a few grand. I'm not totally happy with them, I would have preferred that they were symmetrical. So maybe this winter version 2.0 could happen...

This post makes me want to remove my 600hp supercharged engine and do this swap. Interested to see how you do the electronics integration. Are you using stock ecu or stand alone?

600hp, that's impressive! If you do decide to go ahead with the swap buy a complete write-off, it will save a lot of time/money. I'm using the stock ecu but deleting things like can-bus,
    O2 Readiness Override, Cold Start.

Some maintenance items arrived this week, fuel filler pot (that's what BMW calls it) and new park brake cables. I wasn't surprised to find that after 19 years the rubber was rotting. The filler pot for the earlier cars is NLA (51718400209) so I had to go with a newer one (51718410659) the only difference between them is the newer one has a notch cut out (LH one in photo).
