I picked up these front and rear 2 piece ECS rotors to go the Porsche 996 calipers.

Also decided while the front end is apart I would replace the hubs as a PM thing.

Sure but winter will have to end first! We've have about 10" of the white stuff over the last couple days.

So here are a few shots of the initial fitting of this beast! you can see how it really fills the engine bay, but surprisingly its not to bad for access. With the exhaust removed this engine is about 27" wide, evening getting to the exhaust bolts isn't bad due to how low they are on the engine. The ABS unit had to be relocated as the brake lines were touching the valve cover, so to get the engine all the way back I had to unbolt it and push is over. luckily there is plenty of room just under the brake booster.

Since I wanted to keep the original feel of the car the SMG trans was not kept and a 6 speed manual trans was acquired, this also meant a new flywheel and twin disc clutch were needed.

This build is what dreams are made of.

Well done sir. Small car, big engine is the age old meaning of hotrodding. Albeit with a modern flare.

Looking forward to the epic driving vids

How are you dealing with immobilizer, cas, cluster? Or you are moving all of that to the Z3?

Are you going to take it up to 212mph like that one other Z3M rally car with S85?

I might move it to the Z but there are other options and I'll post more about that in a while.

The plan is to try for 200+ and see how that goes... who knows may even go FI.

Interesting. I looked at it as proof that estoril was so slow that you had to swap in a V10 just to keep up with the other colors

Damn... this is gonna tear that chassis apart... I'd suggest plenty of gussets :-)

    Best of luck!!!

I know, it took a long time! I was also unsure how I wanted to start the thread.

I'm pretty excited as well! The plan is to head out to the prairies and take some videos on those straight roads that go forever...

I had made plans to convert an E46 wagon to diesel with a euro engine, and for the longest time wanted to make a thread: "Help! I mistakenly put diesel in my tank, and started the car."

That's a fantastic way to start a thread, you should have saved it!

That's priceless! followed by "please send donations to my bail fund"
