Now the calipers are all done.

What pads did you end up using? What are those 3M stickys used?
ps. I am going to remove anti squeal shims from rear as one of my rear brakes occasionally squeals but fronts dont and I did not install those into fronts.
I am having brembo pads at front but oem porsche pads in rear, that difference might be also causing it.

Z3 & E36 RamAir systems, send private message for more information.
I'm using Hawk ceramic, same type had on the car for the last 7 or 8 years. They were low dust as one would expect and quiet. The 3M are anti vibration pads, when I got the calipers both fronts and rears had them so I just pick up new ones.
I've heard many Porsche owners complaining about brake noise, maybe it the pads? Other than some squealing how do you like the Brembo's and do you feel the braking has improved/reduced?
Does anyone have an S54 fuel pump assembly with a dead pump? fuel line connections and fuel level must be in good working order.
Jeremy might, I believe I just saw him post on FB about replacing his FP not too long ago.

Thanks Robb, I'll get in touch with him.
While working on the fuel system I've discoved that the fuel pumps from the M6 are a direct fit in the original S52 pump assembly and the electrical connector is the same as well. Unfortunately the M6 assembly does fit the Z fuel tank.

The larger front sway bar arrived today, going from a Dinan 22mm to an H&R 28mm. Both front and rear bars will be going out for powder coating shortly. The front bar and powerflex bushings are no longer needed...

After 20 years it was time to clean the fuel tank inside and out. I was surprised to see so little debris in the tank, after that long I expected more. I have most of the fuel system now, I just need the dual pump bracket and the tank can be installed.

The new fuel lines, filter etc. The blue lines had been sealed and sitting on the shelf in Germany for a long time, one says 1998 and the other says 2000.

One day I hope to be able to overhaul a car to this extent. Excellent work as always, Lars

It was such a nice sunny day this past Sunday to work on the car. This is where the magic/voodoo happens aka wiring! I removed the canbus from the engine harness and did some repining. The SMG wiring needed to come out in favor of a 6 speed manual trans and I'm using a manual from an E90 which comes with a trans cooler that has to be added. After hours of work it sure doesn't look like you accomplished much... also the E90 trans harness has o2 sensors and these are not needed as the engine already has all the wiring for the o2's. The first photo showing o2 connectors, second with them removed and a little cleaner looking.

Which pin out tool is that, and how do you like it?
It's the Schwaben set. For the most part it does a good job but there are a couple styles of pins the tool isn't strong enough to release the locking tabs. There are simple workarounds for those.
Im s54 swapping my e36 m3 right now and boy am I glad they make off the shelf wiring harness adapters! 😝
So are ECUs adaptable enough that you can just disable all of the extra components that were on the M5 but won't be in the roadster?
I know people do projects like this, but I've always been confused about how you could get a modern ECU to live happily in a 20 year old car.
The DME controls the engine. Other modules control the car and chassis stuff. The difficulty in these swaps lies in:
A) getting the chassis modules to talk to the DME
B) deleting EWS (antitheft) and other extraneous systems from the M5 DME (like it wanting to talk to the SMG)
The engine computer does not control the whole car
Graham, your so lucky! I sort of whish there was an S85 option for our cars. I guess if the was more may attempt this swap...
What Graham said below.
The DME for this swap will get;
1. Canbus delete
2. EWS delete
3. RPM limiter delete
4. O2 Readiness Override
5. Cold Start Delete
6. RPM Limiter Raised
7. VANOS Adjustment Improvement
And some coding +++
