The new brake lines arrived this week, apperently you have to bend them yourself! good thing i saved the originals.

Pretty standard. Would be hard to ship if pre-bent

What tool do you use for bending them? Need to do the same myself soon

Well during the summer moths they sealcoat the highways (asphalt mixed with water is sprayed on the road and a layer of sand is applied on top, filling the cracks. Its a winter thing) The original owner drove over this hot mess an by doing that coated the entire underside of the car. When I removed the mess with solvent soaked rags, the sand remove part of the protective coating on the brake lines very much like sand paper.

Your right, after I looked at the photos again the light bulb above my head came on...

I've got a few benders, I'll dig them out and let you know what works best.

Hi Randy - I tried to message you through bimmerforums to get information on the z3 subframe issue. Is there a best way to contact you? I am an owner of a 2001 z3. Thanks!

I'll bet more than anyone else

I figured it was time to upgrade from the SA's which were absolutely great! but for this build I needed that extra adjustment to dial the car in. I almost joined the JRZ group by but opted to stay with TC. I'm curious is anyone running the JRZ's and what their thoughts are?

This past weekend a lot was accomplished, mounted the expansion tank and installed vent pipes. Unfortunately since I have the tank mounted on the opposite side of the strut tower from the M6 I'll have to pick up more of the plastic line to make the connections.
The M6 puller fan is installed along with the wiring that goes to it. The wiring is crazy big and is connected to a 100 amp fuse!! you can see the standard wiring compared to the fan wires. Most of the DME wiring is labeled and ready to run where it needs to go, luckily the M6 harness has more than what's need and several feet will be trimmed.

Is that a standard Z3 radiator? How's the shroud fit from the M6? In been looking at doing a custom shroud... But if it fits direct and just needs some wiring why reinvent the wheel.

No its the M6 rad with custom mounts, that would be nice if it fit the z3 rad. I do have the original rad from the roady, I'll see how it fits.

Well it’s been a productive weekend, the box for the DME isinstalled along with some of the wiring. I removed the glovebox and all themodules to access the opening in the firewall, got the wiring routed into thecar and ran the wires to where the need to go. Now all the wiring can be wrappedand routed.

I also finished off the rad with a cover which gives it amuch cleaner look.

Robb, the M6 fan shroud does not fit the original rad for our car.

    Unfortunate, but figured.

I don't know if you've looked into it or need it, but there is a few OEM pieces that the euro coolant expansion tank mounts to in the area you are putting that connection box. If you've already mounted it you might not need it anymore, but it may give you more options for secure mounting. I think I had the PN's in my Euro cooling conversion thread from a few years back.

    Thread: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-helpful-hints

Has some extra photos, and PNs but here's the short list

    "Body bracket 1- 41112491298
    Body bracket 3- 51712490388 "

Body bracket 2 you dont need as its specific to the expansion tank conversion.

Bracket 1 DOES required to be welded to the tower

I actually looked at using the euro that you installed and the remote expansion that the other z's use but since I had all these pieces from the donor, it just made more sense to use what I had. For mounting brackets I went to a local auto wrecker and found a bunch of them (about 20) for like $5... with a some test fitting and a little reshaping voila I had factory looking mounting brackets. I must admit that I got the idea after looking at you and others had done using the correct OEM brackets for your installs, it just looks clean.

Can’t wait to see this build finished. I had the pleasure of driving this M6 earlier this week, can only imagine how that engine would feel in my clownshoe

Holy Crap its been a while!
Yes there is a few updates, finished shaping and installing the vent lines to the expansion tank.
Installed the engine and steering oil coolers. Had to make new lines for the engine oil cooler and modify the M6 power steering lines.
    Mounted the oil filter housing.
I've bee working on fitting the vacuum pimp and lines.
Much of the wiring is done. What else am I missing... oh yeah the engine cranks over! no fuel or spark, fuses have been pulled.

Very cool! sounds like you are getting pretty close! I was just at an event that my buddy with his Z3 M coupe was at, and I was telling him about your swap.

Kind of close... After its running everything has to come out so I can repair where the OE brackets were removed and new brackets welded, scratches etc. so it can be painted to match the body.
