1999 Z3, 2.8 (Yes! 2.8) ABS Module replacement do not fit!

Long story; Wife went to BMW dealer in 1999 and ordered a loaded Z3 with standard engine 2.3. Years later, I took it to dealership and they said why does a 2.3 have a 2.8 under the hood? The engine sticker agrees. Now we need to replace the ABS module and pump. Cannot find the correct arrangement. The ECU harness is smaller than the replacements. and the module has two extra holes the mechanic (BMW) doesn't even recognize. This thing is a real FUBAR. Any suggestions? I really just want to find a junk yard unit and swap but, this is a night mare. ECU rebuilding is a more expensive.

Are you sure it's not a '98 2.8 and not a '99 2.8? They have different engines ('98: M52, '99: M52tu) and different ECUs, which might explain your confusion.

Show us a photo of your engine, we'll figure it out. Also your VIN might help.

Have you checked to see if module master in Idaho can repair your abs module. They a notorious for cracking solder traces. MUCH cheaper than replacement.

Put the last 7 of your VIN into http://realoem.com and you will get the real information about your car based on your VIN. You can even get the BMW part number for the ABS Module which should fit your car.
