Hello everyone I just acquired a E31 recently and have been fixing small things here and there but this car is my daily driver. I Just repaired my GM i had EEdegreetodrive repair it he did great work and my windows and locks work now. But yesterday while i was driving my check engine light came on while sitting at a light.I was almost home when all of a sudden I seemed to lose power. When I pulled over to the shoulder Itried to give it a little gas and this made the car run very rough then the battery light on the dash came on flashing and the car died .I tried all types of things to get it running but it wouldn't well a hour later i started it and let it coast home with pressing little to no gas.Today I went to start it to see if there was anything leaking but nothing and now the car wont start at all it cranks over.I am limited in money right now so I want to get it right so to speak and try to fix whatever this sounds like. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
840 or 850? Sounds like a fuse or Alternator.
I would say you are in LHM, possibly MAF or fuel pump, hard to say from your description. I am in Vallejo, will shoot you a PM.
Automatically assumed it's an 850.
I should haave been more specific I do apologize it is a 1995 840ci
It sounds as if your initial problem was the CAMshaft sensor:

...you can check if this is the case by disconnecting the sensor - the engine runs without it fitted (but uses more fuel and reduces power).
However, it is possible that the engine is now flooded - pull a sparkplug to see if it is wet with petrol:

http://www.meeknet.co.uk/E32/Plugs/Index.htm
If pulling the plug shows it to be completely dry, then the next course of action would be to check for a spark before going much further - to do this refit the sparkplug back in the coil, reconnect the coil to the harness and rest the end of the plug on a metal part of the engine - get a friend to crank the engine and watch for sparks at the plug.
Sparking well and not wet: probably fuel pump
Sparking well and wet with petrol: probably flooded
Not sparking: probably CRANKshaft sensor
A lack of CRANKshaft sensor signal inhibits the fuel injectors....

Never hurts to replace the fuel pump relay anyway and its cheap cheap.
Thank you all for your help it was the fuel pump relay the lack of fuel set of the check engine light, but i do not understand why it would run while just letting it coast along.
