My main question is whether or not the abs signal needs to be conditioned somehow? If it does how do I do it? Googling it brings up really spotty information. Thanks for any information.

If you have the new DIYautotune OBD1 PNP unit, it should have an extra VR input, which will condition the raw signal from the ABS, so you can directly wire the sensor to that input. Sometimes you have to get creative with trial and error with what combination of wires to connect. Sometimes it likes both sensor wires hooked up to both VR wires, and other times it likes just the positive, or just the negative, and sometimes they need to be crossed. (negative to positive, ect.) So start with just stripping the wires and twisting them together and spinning the wheel in the air. It should read at low speeds.

Disclaimer-Ive never successfully implemented it with working ABS in a BMW, but i only tried once for about 4 mins, and not on the PNP unit.

If it doesnt have an extra VR, you can get a VR to digital converter for cheap. This is what ive used on atleast 10 different installs using the base MS3x
