I love BMW M-Sport trims in general but being mechanically inclined and appreciating function over badges/plaques, I always chuckle at people who are paying for VIN numbers but maybe those people will be the ones chuckling in 10 years when they sell the car for x3 what they bought it for. Then again for the ones who really make a killing on buying/selling "rare" vehicles they usually don't drive them just hoard them like a commodity and as an enthusiast that makes me cry and chuckle at the same time. To each their own.

If you look back at actual completed listings, actual sales of the 2003iT in the last five years the prices have steadily increased across the board for clean cars selling now in the $12K - $15K with 125Kish averrage miles, those exact cars were selling in the $6-8KKish range 5 years ago. Those sales can be documented with a little bit of searching. The cleanest low miles car sold about 6 - 8 months ago for $25Kish for a black / tan 69Kish miles. That car was the lowest mileage car I have been able to document. All other years for actual sales are topping out at $8000 for super clean ones and those are rare...most in the $6Kish -7Kish. All of those sales are easy to document. To each their own sums it up, neither good / bad/ just different choices. I don't see the 2003s being the 3x jump in 5 yrs but will definetlty always bring more money for clean ones and low mileage examples are RARE. I spent a lot of time researching to know for a fact 2003 may not be every ones choice when you can buy the same car different year and build one, but it will never be an original 2003. Not an auction goes by these days that Porsche, Vette, Mercedes, etc the low production years & cars wont bring much more that the same car different year but many more made.

Your build is the perfect example is how much more that specific car will bring on Bat when you get ready to sell. It is a unicorn, one of one, and probably the best example on the planet of how classy these 540iTs can look when done with the meticulous detail you have put into that beautiful car. I email you because I wanted to be on top of the list to be able to buy that car., and will go on record I predict when you get ready to sell it will bring close 30Kish if sold in a BaT auction. $25K will be a steal, $27K will be good for both seller and buyer, but $30K + is what that car is really worth. IM out of the running to be able to buy it due to an unforeseen diagnosis with some health crap I just received. Who ever the new owner will be when the time comes will honestly have one of the nicest 540iTs in existence...its the exception to the 2003s but I already stated that "well done cars" your car exceeds that by a mile...and be prepared when you list it, BaT will show your car is truly a star...

Looks like someone threw on Alpina wheels and badging, most Alpina vehicles usually have a front lip and some special interior touches.

What's really interesting is the tailgate that looks to be crooked.

yeah...lol...totally agree !! it looked a bit "licked and sticked" to me....and the right rear wheel arch looks hazy...Either it's the photo or something's up back there....like you said (no gap on that one side of the tailgate...plus, the muffler looks a bit jacked. probably been hit more times than Mike Tyson....) Cool car, I kinda dig it...just not sure if I want to deal with a turbo motor, but hell...how bad could it be ???

I did buy and pay for the touring Danny had.

    I'am the owner of a Japanrot e39 540i/A and also have 2 e39 M5's.

I have a dentist buddy and the local BMWCCA president Adam that went by to test drive and PPI the touring for me.

Danny and I agreed on $4200 for the touring and all of the parts including both sets of wheels.

I deposited cash in Dannys account after he texted me his account info and insured the touring with my insurance company. I was assured my Danny that he would get it all packed up nicely for my friend to come pick up asap.

Danny re-sold the touring the day after my deposit of cash to his account.

Danny informed me by text that he wanted to return my cash and that he found a buyer that was willing to pay full price for the touring and that he got to keep all of his parts.

After 8 days and a trip to retrieve his new to him e36 m3 i got my cash back as Danny drove thru Colorado.

I'm not happy about how Danny handled this situation.

    Others beware.

    AW

    Thanks for your opinion

    Imagine how I felt.

Apparently Danny thinks you just keep shopping a deal after you make a deal.

    I don't get it.

I guess hes ok with damaging his reputation.

Well.... don’t thank me, sure, he shouldn’t had accepted your offer right away, there’s always 2 sides to a story, and I pretty much figured it out, now that I’m wide awake. I was half asleep when I posted that, But we’ve known Danny on here for quite some time, I know people he’s hooked up with that said he’s a stand up guy. You? I don’t know. You’ve been a member since 2010, with only 8 posts, airing this sh!t out like you are, I’ll bet my left nut, you lowballed him, pressured him to sell, his mistake was saying yes right away because he needed money for something else. You got your money back? Yes? Move on, you wouldn’t haves liked getting lowballed if you were selling your current red wagon and the two M5’s? Right?

If a deal has been made it needs to be honored by both parties unless they both agree to unwind it.
Seller accepted a deposit (consideration) to confirm the agreement.
Buyer or seller's remorse? Tough, put on your big boy pants and live with your decision.
Seller will someday find himself in a similar situation and will perhaps then understand better.

Haha! I’m just all kinds of misunderstood around here. Its ok, for some of the bs I used to pull, I deserve it. But it was usually all in fun, some people just don’t know how to laugh is all.

There are often two sides to the story, but we haven't heard Danny's...and we don't have a right to, either. Sure FlyinM5 just got his money back, but a deal's a deal..particularly when paid for.

This reminded me of that scene in Mad Max beyond the Thunderdome - Bust a Deal, face the Wheel......

That was the weird part that I wasn't approached at all after my purchase.

I like to failure indicator on the dash myself and the missing pixels on the Radio. What is it with used car lots that can not spring for a set of floor mats? Too cheap?
