Anyone know if the hood and fenders from a sedan fit a wagon/touring?

Of course they would, why wouldn’t they? The roof, rear doors and every thing back don’t.

Once you get past the front doors, the rear door windows, I think, are the same as the sedan rear door windows, the inner door panels, the rear carpet half on the floor, after that, nothing is interchangeable, not even the rear seat bench. Ok, the amp and the cd changer, phone and nav stuff thats it...., ok, the friggin battery, gas tank, the gas door, and cap, then thats it, ok, the differential, and axles, brake rotors, caliper, pads, caliper carriers are different, but I might be wrong, that it..... ok, the freakin wheels, thats it.... ok, the tag bracket, that is it...... ok, the rear bumper shocks, and a partridge in a pear tree!

I unfortunately have the money, but do not have any space to pick up this car. 1/9 528it made in Kashmir Beige(reference: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...option-codes-) ), probably the only one with a stick. Stick wagons and weird colors have a good history on BaT and Cars and Bids, but to have both... I think the asking price would be a good starting price and then refurbish during the spring and flip in the summer
bet the rear jack points are rusted and have pulled off the body under those rockers....don't ask me how I'd know that

You have a love an idiot who drives a car with the seat belt retractor broken and then slams the buckle in the door jam. See dent above the body door latch point. Bammm!

Hey Tony! How are you man? Tough year and all, but everything good, I hope? That wagon you posted with those M3 wheels, the guy needs to ditch the front rims and go square with the 9” rears, it wouldn’t look that bad. Those front E46 wheels offsets are just way off wrong. I always liked those M3 rear wheels, but never bothered to get a square rear set together for one reason, they are a pain in the ass to keep clean. I like easy, hence the style 66’s that I love. Maybe get together a set of 9” square style 37’s next. Those are real easy to clean. Jeezuz, I gotta stop collecting wheels..... I think I have 6 or 7 sets sitting around, the disease is ruling me.

How big of an issue would the rust be (or at least what looks like rust) on the kashmir beige wagon? Is that likely just the tip of iceberg and need addressed sooner rather than later? Or is it not an urgent issue?

I just moved to the east coast after living in Arizona for a while and got spoiled by the no rust thing. I've been looking around for an E39 wagon for a little since moving, and while it's not a color I'd prefer, I wouldn't mind the kashmir beige that much either. This one isn't too far away and I'm in the DC area most weekends anyways. But if the rust is going to be more of a headache than anything else, I'll keep looking for something else. Thanks!

This would be a better deal in my opinion, I would rather fix mechanical stuff as opposed to rust stuff. This is also a stick, milage is higher, but way better condition interior

The only thing and there are a few, that bother me about this one is 200K and no pics of the front seats which I am sure are toast. Well worn out wagon. There are many out there with 100K that are a better buy.

    Thanks all for the input.

Wagons, I think I'll skip the kashmir beige altogether. I don't need that kind of rust in my life at the moment.

mateo8, thanks! I think I might have seen that silver one a while back, didn't realize it was up again. Should I be concerned at all that it seems to have a different color hood and the aftermarket headlights? I can't tell for sure but it seems the black bumper is an unpainted M5 bumper.

StephenVA, that does seem weird to me too. It's like they went out of the way to avoid photographing the front seats.

If it is any consolation this was the front seat wear on my 540it when I got it at 230k and spent most of its life in VA, and then 80k of those miles was as a rural mail carrier. The only problem with the interior when I got it was the driver seat had a little tear (pic with the ruler) in the stitching but is fixed now, was $100ish to remedy. IDK if the black helped with the overall visual condition of the front seats, but they are as firm as ever

I like that one, but $6000??? Thats what I paid for my last 2001 540 sport with 112,000 on the clock. Oh well, I already have a green 2000 wagon in that same Oxford Green 2, but that one has a 5speed.....

What would be a reasonable price on that one? Although I'd prefer a facelift, Oxford Green is my favorite e39 color. Considering trying to check it out next time I'm in DC but not crazy about the price.

Last week I reached out and got one response from the guy selling the silver 525iT in the DC area, asked him a few more questions and haven't heard back in a few days.

Reasonable price is no longer a factor. The market has changed. Lets hope the seller isn't reading this thread.
If you want a wagon, and manual, you pay what it takes.
Factor in what you can repair yourself, and the condition of the car.
Good car? More money, less repair.
I've been buying all there is, regardless of condition. So have my friends. There's less out east, don't overthink it.

Also I never believe what the listing says the transmission is for any ad anywhere, I only trust a picture of the interior that shows shifter. Especially important on FB marketplace, it screwed up my own listing for my e30, I realized it was showing as automatic and I damn sure didn't list it as an auto!

    Agree totally.

I don't think $6k is too bad a price for that one. It looks clean and has good colors. No options by the looks of it, but for some that's a plus.

But yes, the market has changed. E39 touring prices appear to be on the rise, but it's still hard for me to tell how much of that is driven by high used car prices across the board.

I'm looking at a pretty worn out 03 525iT right now. Sport Package. Automatic. Good colors. Wicked long todo list. $2k. 3 years ago this would have been sub-$1k.

Wowza, that is truly nutty. I am a compulsive searcher of wagons. I see a couple clean prefacelift E39 tourings with sub-100k miles every year. None have been even 1/3rd of this price.

Is there something I'm missing with that one? Just BAT insanity? I don't get it!
