It has been a long time coming but my M30B35 is being put back together!
When I took the oil pump off to fully remove the oil pan I couldn't see any evidence of gasket material between the block and the pump. RealOEM also doesn't show a gasket either. Before I just assume no gasket is needed and ruin a rebuilt engine I thought I'd check. I've seen a lot of debate from others (mostly Chev and Ford guys) about gasket or no gasket between oil pumps and blocks. Anyone who's done a lot of work on M30's care to share their opinion of stock oil pump - gasket, RTV/silicone or just bare old metal.

Side note - For M30's without a chain tensioner, how do you adjust the tension? My chain appears in good condition with no stiff links and didn't have any excessive play. I presume to reinstall the pump you just bolt it on then slip the chain back into the sprocket and that should be fine?
Thanks
