whats up everyone. been playing with the idea a e46 m3 6spd in my e36 m3. from what I found, its pretty straight forward and easy. only thing I get caught up on is if its possible to use a e36 single mass flywheel to work with the updated clutch setup?
Now to the bigger question. just found a gem of a diff in the junkyard a couple weeks ago. It was a 210mm diff from a 750il that's a lsd 3.64. they are some 4 bolt flanges here and there that can be used on these diffs that are pretty hard to come by. now if I would use both the trans and the diff, what drive shaft can I go with. I know its been said you can use evo 36 m3 driveshafts but what about the case of a 4 bolt flange 210 diff? do you go with an automatic e36 m3 driveshaft? thoughts??
thanks.
I thought E32 750iL diffs were 3.15 LSD. I know the one I installed in my 99M3 is. You can change the diff input flange to an ancient 210 4 bolt input flange but if you torque it wrong you may need to rebuild the diff. You could have a driveshaft made — some turbo guys have Getrag 420G with E32 750iL diffs using a custom shaft from DSS but it is a one piece shaft that eliminates the guibo, requires some adapters, costs about $700 and adds some NVH. A very good driveshaft shop may be able to cobble something together for you by adapting parts from multiple stock shafts but I have not tried this and don’t know the details.
