VANOS Question for M54 experts

It's good to know there are comrades in arms out there continuing to fight the good fight! Unfortunately, the DISA valve replacement didn't solve my surge problem so I'm still in the soup on that one. BTW, BK06090 says hi to your M5.

BTW...I drove my M5 to BMW CCA O'fest in Monterey from TN in '13 and '16. Were you there by chance? Ran a track day on Laguna Seca both times.

Edit question...have you done anything with your VANOS regarding the surge?

I didn't make it to Monterey with the M-car, unfortunately... Yes, I rebuilt the VANOS when I had the head off for an overhaul. I found a neat trick for installing the PTFE seals - use a wooden tongue depressor to expand them into their grooves. Made it super-simple to install them and eliminated the possibility of doing any damage while putting them in.
