I can guess at this so wildly... but I don't like what I come up with.
Can someone please explain to me what 'No Lift Shifting' is?
Is this designed to support Stick Shift? Or also Auto?
Thanks and sorry if this is a silly q.
No lift shifting is for manual vehicles when the driver doesn’t release the throttle during a shift. Driver has to be very fast at shifting or it can cost you a motor if you money shift or over rev.
Money shifting is when you mis-shift into a lower gear instead of the higher gear.
example: shifting from 2-1 instead of 2-3.
Also known as flat shifting. Very stupid. Usually its going to be Honda guys doing this in their 98 POS hatchback trying to break into a 17 second 1/4 mile. There are also electronic aids that cut spark like a rev limiter during shifts so you can keep the throttle wide open without revving it to the limiter every time you shift.
The difference between doing this and abusing the hell out of your driveline and shifting normally during flat out acceleration is almost none.
Many new cars (including BMWs) now have rev-matching built into their ECU/Transmission Control Module. No more heel-and-toeing needed.
Thanks. I think I was reading it entirely out of context.
What you are saying above makes sense to me. Appreciated.
