    E90 2.8i #2 cylinder misfire

    Hi.
Been try to help a friend out with their car.
It runs very badly. If you’re just coasting it seems to behave.
But the second you give it gas it bucks and misfires.

In park it behaves, in drive at a stop light say it miss fires.

I used a generic scan tool and it said #2 cylinder misfire.
So, I replaced #2 coil pack and spark plug to see if it would solve the issue.

Didn’t make a bit of difference.
Scanner still shows Cylinder #2 misfire.

Where now? Trying to help a friend out. Wishing I had just sent them to the dealership.

    Any help appreciated

How old are the plugs? Ground wires secured? Try a little dielectric grease in the boots. Spring good in the boot? If you switched the coil and the problem did not move it has to be either up or down from there.

    No clue on the plugs.
But the one I removed had a gap of 0.50 thought that was excessive.
Original BMW plugs. I guess been in there since new. 36,000 miles.

Taking this engine cover of if a real pita.
Seems every time I touch a plastic clip it breaks.

Sorted. Turned out to be a second coil pack needed replacing.
My junk scanned would only report back as Cylinder #2 misfire
