What turbo is everyone running to get around 500whp that is not super laggy?
Looking to get some recommendations on what size turbo for a m52 2.8L to make around 450-500whp. I have done some research on the forums, but I can not find an exact answer. Im running a t3 top mount manifold for now. Not worried about hood clearance issues.
Thanks in advance!

with the small ar housing.

How to turbo your car:
Step one. Install ecu and learn to tune and or have it tuned.
Step two. Install injectors and retune.
Step three. Install turbo parts and bits. get it running with out leaks. DO NOT DRIVE IT. Idling should be ok
Step four. Retune car
Step five enjoy
I’d go for more like a 58-62mm impeller turbo and not one with a big turbine wheel like some BW, and not one with a big back housing — stock with something like a 0.63 or 0.82. I have not shopped anything smaller than a GT35R so I can’t recommend one but you can make a list from Precision, Garrett and BW of ones that are in your budget.
I made 510whp on an s52 with the s257sxe from borg. 19psi @ 3600. Maybe coupled with a smaller back housing (mine was as big as it could get because 3.2) gl.
I'd recommend something with at least a 62mm wheel
Thanks for the help! Im going to look around and hopefully order something in the next few days. Also if anyone has any recommendations on OBD2 tuning that would be great. I have seen a bunch of stuff on the forums about RK tunes, TRM, and a few other companies, but they were older. At this point I am leaning towards going with RK Tunes.
That's what I'd go with. Can't beat the price and performance.
If you're stuck on Garrett, I'd give a look at a GTX3576R, but it'll also have room to grow since the compressor can push way more than 500 rwhp if you lean on it. I wouldn't get a 62 mm+ inducer compressor for just 500 rwhp, that's crazy talk with modern compressor wheel technology.
