    M50 Coil Boot Causing Hesitation?

I just finished testing my coils' resistance and all came out to about 0.7 which is great.

I noticed the boot of one coil is chipped at the end. I've heard of cracked boots causing issues, and I've got a bit of intermittent hesitation when revving around 3k. I've replaced almost all of the vacuum lines (all but the brake booster afaik), intake boot, O2 sensor, and valve cover gasket with nut seals.

My question is: would this small of a chip cause an issue? It seems really minor.

    M50 Coil Boot Causing Hesitation?

Yes as the rubber degrades, the extenders ‘leak’ voltage thru the small cracks and cause issues. Replace them.…and change your VC gasket and clean the oil from the spark plug wells.

If that's the only one, I doubt it. But all of them might be corroded slightly or have oil in them etc. More likely check the fuel system for hesitation if you are sure the rubber vac lines are good IMO. But if you have an extra $70 for boots do them as well
On my car none were badly cracked, but a couple were like that. Most of them had dirt or corrosion in them so I changed all my boots after doing all the vac and gasket repairs. New ones fit on so much more snug so I feel there's a better connection/spark. E: it was the last thing I did after vac leaks, fuel filter, injector clean that I think made the difference with it running smoother.

What part of them is supposed to be snug to something? You've got me stressed lol.

The old ones with the floppy worn ends just loosely sat/pushed down on the sparkplug. The new ones seemed to connect to the sparkplug better with a snug bottom rubber.

Well shit I'm not sure if any of them do that! Lmao. I'll check em later today and buy new ones if need be. Thanks for the info!

I had the very same symptoms and finally bought new extenders. Wow what a difference! No more hesitation and she pulls like she's got a new life. So yes, they do degrade and leak voltage plus upon slicing the old ones open, they were filled with oil and the inner boot was deteriorated and all gooey.
