    Walbro pumps

Because the search function here is a bad joke, I am compelled to ask this in this section.

I am installing an S54 in a E46 Touring. I have the pressure regulator issue resolved. However, since the M3 tank is a unique part number, I have no clue if an M3 pump will fit in a non-M tanks. SO ... the only Walbro 255 pumps I see listed anywhere seem to be about M3s. Are there kits, based on the Walbro 255, for a non-M E46? Links?

I appreciate the link. I will have to e-mail them to see if this is a kit for an M3 or not.

    Follow up -- is an M3 fuel pump a drop-in fit for a 325?

In that UK seller link, it’s just a walbro with a foam sleeve zip tied around it. You can buy a Walbro 255 LPH High Pressure for $100 and a foam sleeve kit for $15. For E36, there is a much nicer machined sleeve that fits the pump better and won’t risk the pump dropping down over time and sitting on the filter.

Okay. SO now I have to look like a complete dumbphuq, but I KNOW what I DON'T know !!!! I am very well versed on E30s and 36s, but other than "normal" refresh stuff on 46s (DISA, VANOS, oil and coolant leaks, clutches and suspension) I am a bit weak. SO ---------- I have no clue as to what the foam kit is or where to get it. Someone on E46fanatics said that with some mods, the M3 Walbro kit will go in a non-M3 fuel pump. Can you provide me with info on the foam kit for an E46 325 application?

Don’t know the E46 pumps and hangers. But there are maybe 3 standard size foam sleeves. I think I once bought a kit with all 3 and just used the one that fit best. Basically the walbro 255 is a 39mm consistent diameter pump and needs a sleeve to fit many hangers while the VDO pump is either thicker or has a ridge that allows it to sit in the stock hanger (have not had a stock pump since 2007 so can’t remember exactly).

E46 may differ a little — I don’t know but it should not be hard to figure out with a little parts checking and cross referencing.
