It's been a month so here's another update. I filed the tank up all the way for the first time and gas started to leak out everywhere. I removed the tank and drained it only to find TONS of rust inside. I honestly don't understand how this car ran at all. I took the tank to the local radiator shop to be fixed and decided to tackle the clutch in the mean time. My suspicion of the pressure plate failing was correct, it just wasn't putting enough force on the clutch disk. Got the new clutch in, changed transmission and diff fluid, tackled some general maintenance, brakes, tires, etc. I also flushed the fuel system again and got another new filter. When I got the new tank back I installed it, filled it up and took it for a drive. The car runs much better but still not 100%. I'm thinking I'll have to take the injectors out yet again and clean them for the third time. I'm thinking rust from the tank made it past the filter and into the injectors. Good news is, clutch is working great and the car drives great. I just need to get the engine running its best and solve the remaining electrical gremlins like intermittent headlight functionality and the radio/tach/test panel not getting power.

    Watching your M90 progress

I just found your thread and glad to see that your making progress.
My interest is in the success of your engine mainly because I just picked up a M90B35 engine this past weekend that came out of a 1979 euro 635CSI with 125K miles on it. Just like you, searching for M90 specific parts has run me into countless dead ends so far. I'm tuned in.

There is no such thing as an M90 B35 motor. What you have is an early euro b34 (M30) motor which has a larger bore and higher compression ratio and is referred to as an M90 . Last M90 motor was in Euro model year 81. The only parts really M90 specific are the pistons. and head gaskets. If you found a build sheet for the car the motor came from, it would reference the motor has an M30 The B35 wasn't introduced until towards the last year or so before end of 6 series production

Bert is right, as usual, although to be fair no where near as good looking as me. The M90 block is closest to the M88 block. It is the preferred block for race engine builders. The B35 head came out in around 1988. Pre this date they were B34's or for the 633, B32's. There are plenty of good decent BMW engines out there you can put in if you want a transplant.
