Don't think I posted anything about this in the past.
What was the first overhead valve V8 engine Chevy produced?
If you do google it to find out don't post the answer, give the others a chance to guess.

No and no.
The correct answer should have some engine info too, like cu in, maybe HP, etc.
As you can tell Jim, I am not good at old car stuff at all. HOWEVER, I'm going to guess anyway haha..
So, I can't remember ever hearing of an overhead valve Chevy V8 in anything older than a Vette, and I think there was something smaller than a 283 initially, so I'm going to say it was a 265CI, and it was introduced in 1958.
Man I'm horrible with old car stuff...
Not sure about chevy, but the first v8s were made in the early 1900s (? - before ww1). 10th grade world history ftw!
Totally blank over here, but guessing 57.

Not going to cheat this time but I'm going to guess around 1920's. Prior to that era most of the manufacturers were still making I8 engines. I believe Packard were the last ones to still make I8 while most others switched to V8's.
Thad, there was a 265 cu in V8 that was introduced in 1955, but that ain't the answer.
In 1958 the 348 cu in came out.
auaq, your close.

Wow, I was closer than I expected to be!
Faster than BMW I6 .... send me my prize!!!
You guys need a hint?
No clue here so I'll take a hint. The one I am thinking of is GM but not chevy...plus it's a relatively new engine so i'm sure I'm wrong.

The chassis must always be regarded as a means to an end and never as an end itself
It was a Chevy engine in the beginning, then still produced by GM until it was a dead product.
Hint
It had a clutch fan and the starter was in the V.

283 cid in the 1st yr 'Vette ?
I had an overhead cam I6 engine that cam with my 68 firebird. Not Chebbby but Pontiac. What a POS that engine was.
I can only guess the years but nothing much on displacement. Probably early to mid 1920's and displacement maybe between 210 - 230ci.

Now these quizzes are starting to cost me money. I bought a 1988 Chevrolet Spectrum dealership poster on ebay last night.
