can i pull this thing all the way?

what is that thing on the engine that revs it ?

I have a very noob question for you guys, what is that latch mechanism thing that revs the engine in neutral. It is located on top the engine area itself, you pull it and it revs the engine... My car is an e30 and this is not something i have seen before please advise..

also can i pull that thing all the way? Kind of scared to...

Who opened the hood for you? Start the engine, leave the driver's door open, rev the engine by pushing on the gas pedal with your foot, now while the engine is revving, quickly jump out and see if the thing on the top of the engine is moving. You have to be lightning quick.

Is #2 what you're looking for? Throttle lever. And yes, you can move it through its full range.

Yep, that's the throttle linkage. I'm inclined to think every car you've had has one, but maybe very new stuff has everything hidden out of sight. Pulling that all the way is the same as flooring the throttle pedal, so keep that in mind.

While you’ve discovered the throttle it doesn’t hurt to squirt some wd-40 into the cable, if you have cruise control you’ll see two cables.

If you read the label on WD40 it is actually not a lubricant. Best cable lube IMO is a couple of drops of machine oil and let gravity do its magic

    No e30s, again :(
or that 4 in 1 oil you can buy at walmart. that oil is great. I used to have to lube the chain on my bicycle every couple of rides (I normally do 30+ miles after work) but since I started using that 4 in 1 oil, its only once a month after I wipe it down.
