    FCP engineering?

Has anyone heard of them? Are they any good? I'm looking at these rods and pistons, they are 140mm rods since I have an M50TU.

Also, can I get 135mm rods instead and match the pistons?

You should be able to get pistons and rods for less. I have not shopped a a few years but I recall prices more like $700-800 for pistons like JE or Wiseco and $500 for rods like Eagle or K1. Maybe the 140mm rods are more — you might want to shop around. Maybe buying a $500 M52 and starting with that would be better — you get 2.8L instead of 2.5L though you can bore any block as far as 87mm and also swap in a different crank.

Would I have to purchase 140mm rods though? I was looking into doing the s50b30 clone as well but I want to lay out all my options and take my time and do research on what can be done.

You don't HAVE to use 140mm rods, it's your call. Depending on the stroke, you may not be able to use anything other than a 135mm rod as it will put the wrist pin too high in the piston.

I have 140mm Pauter rods in the M50B28tu, but that was my call. The JE pistons were manufactured accordingly, but the pin encroaches on the oil ring groove and needed a support rail for the ring.

Read up on rod length theory and make your own mind up.

It would be a total waste of time to build an m50 and leave it at 2.5 liters. At least get an m52 or s52 crank. No need to order parts from Lithuania either, wiseco or JE can make you whatever you want.

Ive seen those pistons before, I think they are made by wossner.
