03 540i F/I?

I recently bought a 2003 540i sedan and I want to supercharge or turbo charge it and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for kits/bolt-ons and tips for setting it up? This will be my first F/I project and I need all the help I can get

The only bolt on kit may be VFE centrifugal supercharger. Not sure ESS sells one, don’t think AA does. No turbo kits for those motors. I recall reading about a positive displacement SC kit but don’t think it ever made it into production but worth researching. At least one member here had an E39M5. He even supercharged it. He ended up pulling the S62 V8 and swapping in an S52 in-line 6 and turbocharging it and made way more power.
