I didn't see this info collected in one place, so thought I'd do it. This is what E34, E31, and E32 thrust arm bushings have what color plastic sides, fit what cars, and what Lemförder (the original manufacturer) part numbers interchange.
Lemf. 10530 01 = 31121136605, blue with "768A" cast into them. For all M20 and M50 cars, and US-market 530i Touring (but not European or sedan). Lighter/slower models.
Lemf. 10531 01 = 31121136606, off-white with "769A". For all E32 and E34 M30, M21, M51, and M60 cars except E32 740i/iL, 750i/iL, and US 530iT. Heavier/faster models.
Lemf. 10532 01 = 31121136607, green with "770A". For E32 740i/iL and M70, all E31. Heaviest/fastest.
Lemf. 10529 01 (maybe also 36377 01?) = 31121133710, either grey or no plastic, can't read casting. For E34 518i/iT only. Lightest/slowest.
Lemf. 13281 01 = 31122226528, no plastic. E34 M5 and 540i M-Sport (or M540i?). Relatively heavy, fastest, and stiffest-sprung.
Lemf. 10540 01 and 10541 01 = bare E34 thrust arms with no bushings

This is good stuff - this information is kind of hard to track down when you're shopping for bushings. And as we've probably all noticed, some vendors are getting the applications for these different bushings mixed up.
I have M5 thrust arm bushings on my car. I wondered why Lemforder didn't include that plastic cap but fitted it without one anyway. Now I know why... Thanks for the info.
How 'bout this go in some sticky FAQ?
