Found this spring next to the oil filter housing wandering alone in the engine compartment, probably trying to get back to Germany.
Any idea where this could be from? Need to get her back to work, her journey is not over yet! Pen for scale.

P.S. if you can answer this and you are not a mechanic, you probably need to spend more time with your family and less with your E38!

Looks like the spring that is inside the hood bumpers/ejectors. Are one or both of yours pushed down and the center pin doesn't pop up anymore?
