halogen to xenon w/adaptive headlight question

    hey all,

i have an opportunity to pickup a set of xenon headlights equipped with bulbs, ballasts, angel eyes, and adaptive headlights. would i be able to swap these in without any wiring modifications? i currently have halogen headlights. hope to hear soon since i don't wanna miss out on this deal.

    thanks in advance!

Without knowing years, model, options, who knows? Chances are that you won't be able to do the wiring if it's not running some of the same components and wiring harnesses.

Sorry I have a 2007 X3 with halogen lights. The set I’m looking at has projectors, angel eyes, and adaptive headlight. I’m certain the projector part is plug and play, but will the angel eyes light up? The adaptive headlight isn’t a major concern but just wondering if it would work plug and play or do I need something else.

I'm thinking there will be some Canbus programming involved? I believe I've read you have to toggle between halogen and xenon in the software.

Is that the same as coding?

If it's like an e46 I think you would either need to code the light control module for xenon's or maybe even get a specific lcm from a xenon car.

Also if you swap the lcm I believe the dash will show a dot past your mileage to signify your odometer has been messed with. It's all tied together , at least that was my experience with the e46

wow seems like a whole lot of trouble for some xenon lights lol. alternatively, will i just get a "headlight out" kind of message? if so, i lived like that with my e36 m3 with hid's for years so i guess i wouldn't mind that.
