    Key Worn Out

Has anyone else worn out their primary key? The metal on mine is worn enough on one side that it will only unlock my doors if I flip it the opposite direction. Still works fine in the ignition. I know it's the key and not the locks because the valet key works fine.

Has anyone else gone about getting a replacement key? Can the rfid chip inside the key for EWS simply be transferred to a new key, or do I need to go through the hassle and expense of trying to procure a new key and EWS chip from a BMW dealer?

A key from BMW for your VIN will work without having to have any programming.

You can still get the main key from
BMW to match your EWS and ignition. I got a replacement a few months ago, was not too expensive either. They will ask for your registration and license
