Morning! I currently have 92' E36 320 winterbeater with a M50B20 non vanos lump.. I've been thinking about swapping in a bigger engine, and early E39 525s go for almost nothing around here, so taking out the engine of one of those have been an idea for me. Now here comes the question, what would I need to do to get it working in my E36?
I know I need the engine wiring, a ECU with EWS delete and some other parts. Will the never engine wire up and work with the wiring harness in my old E36? As far as I know the european M52s dont have OBD2 (at least i cant find one on my 97' 320). Yes
I also know that I need to change to a E36 oilpan as well as oil pickup. Does the pan and pickup fit in the M52 from my M50? Yes
I dont want to swap in a M50b25 non vanos, as they are harder to find, and because im planning to do a M50 intake on the M52
Tips would be appreciated, and let me know if you know about threads from people doing the same kind of swap
