IRW sort of sucks. I'd much rather see them leave it and have more exciting tracks then 2 left turns and a front clip
I was really rooting for them to forsake Orlando Speed World this year. Even though it is only an Hour drive from my place It is just not suited to FD competition. I was hoping they would go to Daytona or Sebring or even go back to PBIR. I would gladly make the drive for them to go to a real road course with proper facilities. Daytona's Motorcycle configuration would be perfect, Great facilities and its in the middle of one of the most proud motorsports communities in the country. I bet they would break all of their previous attendance records since in addition to the normal FD fans that would show thousands from the city of Daytona/Port Orange/Ormond Beach would show up just because its something going on at the track. I lived there for 2 years and people who live there will go to anything that is going on at the track just because its something to do on the weekend.

IIRC they have a 5 year contract with OSW. So there's another 3 years I think. 2?
PBIR wasn't a bad track but a lot of drivers had issues with it (I think). The main gripe I had with it was just logistics. The entrance on the track from the pits and the whole organization of cars/carriers/trailers/etc was a cluster.

Pbir was sick because of the Chelsea jump
^ That was Homestead BTW. Was there, it was sick AF
Why isn't the FD tech book public? We all get it via the grape vine. I hate having to ask around for it <_<

we had this tech book discussion in another thread
I looked for about 3 seconds and found the 2017 tech book. Google formula drift tech 2018 it’s right there
Yeah all google is turning up for me is 2017.
also, Pat Goodin is out for next season.
Oh, look, Irwindale is on the FD schedule now.
also, the 2018 rulebook is on the FD website
I never got why they kept the rule book "secret". Makes sense for them to publicly release it. Also lol Irwindale. The cockroach of tracks.

I assume they don't release it until its finalized

in the newest Maximum Driftcast it sounded like the sporting regs still weren't ready
Im blind, wheres the rulebook on the website?
theres a hidden web page, i had to google it to get to it.

i cant be the only person that thinks the 3 wheel motion on the brostangs sucks, right? it seems wonky and when the 4th tire comes down you suddenly have a bit more grip on the front with scrubs speed and bites and probably unsettles everything and causes spins.
the cars never seem smooth
I have similar feelings, they seem very inconsistent and hard to drive like that and are really no faster than JTP's car which is running a fairly conventional setup in comparison.
Why is it super interesting? I feel like electric steering sounds great to me. Less parasitic loss on the driveline. Drifting isn't hard on pumps aside from heat. but without a pump on the motor, you can keep temps down with less fuss (I think).

its vague feeling, and IIRC it can be a bit harsh during contact. i believe Aaron Losey snapped his wrist in his mustang after some wheel to door contact.
Never drove an elec pump powered rack so I have no clue. Wonder if the mustang has a better setup so it doesn't feel like ass.

The great thing about EPAS is that it can be almost infinitely tuned (if you have the right software). People may complain about the factory EPAS tuning, but race teams like Justin's (Roush) likely have the means to adjust the parameters to yield better steering feel. I know this because my current role @ FoMoCo is building a race car that has several different steering modes that many people that have driven say feels fantastic. Understood this is not a drift car, but I'm sure a similar effect could be achieved quite easily. I'm sure if Chelsea or Jr. wanted a better EPAS Cal, it could be worked out.
man, Piotr is on FIRE lately, from winning Irwindale, to 3rd at Long Beach, to winning both nights of Super Drift. Wild. Him and Deane are so great to watch too, they run killer lines but don't make it boring to watch like ol brakecheck and forseberg do
