    “i” motor calrification

Hello all just had a quick question that has stumped me. When someone refers to an “i” motor, what are they talking about? Is there such a thing? If so, how does it differ from a non “i” engine?

    Thanks for your time

The 325e or eta engine was a low rev high torque engine then came the 325i engine which had a higher red line and some different engine internals like camshaft ect

The ETA engine also displaces about 2.7L, whereas the i displaces about 2.5L. The i also uses a completely different cylinder head casting, with different valve sizes, number of cam journals, port sizes, etc.

And to complicate things just a bit further, there's the super-eta which was an '88 only engine. It's a blend of the two engines with many of its own unique parts.

The "b" is just displacement in liters.

Now there’s something I didn’t know, even though it’s obvious now that I do. Thanks!

I noted that because sometimes people will post stuff using the full engine code, m20b25 or m20b27. some people don't know the whole code. I just assumed people would notice the 2.5 was a b25 and 2.7 was a b27 and that it meant the engine displacement.
    No e30s again.
