Just want you guys that are going to attemp replacing transmission mounts on an auto 328i are gonna have a hard time because if you look at the tutorial to replace these look easy but what they dont say atleast for us auto guys is that you have drop the ENTIRE exhaust, then take off the whole heatsheild then you will get access to the top transmission mounts, otherwise you are fked.take a look at the pics, i dont know if this is true for manual guys but if you have done this on manual tranny let me know if you had to do all that work, i even took pics of how hard it looks for me cant even get to the top mounts without dropping the heatsheild

The Universe facepalms every time you create a thread.
Yes, It is the same for the manual Trans E36's.
Glad to see you are at least putting in an effort to maintain your car.

.... Even I facepalm on this thread.. And I'm usually making these kinds of threads.. I mean.. Did'ja even luke add-it? Its kinda on the scope of a lava lamp. Ya lluke add-it, then ya turn the switch one way or zeh otter. Zen ya wait and ya luke add-it for ahmen-oot. Turn zeh switch 2 click a the otter way.. And ya wait for it to show ya how its dun.
Nobody would recertify these machines after somebody screwed with them without any visibility into what they did.
HONK! HONK! Clown car coming through!

if this is a hard job to do, then you sir have the wrong tools.
transmission mounts should take no longer than 20 mins, including jacking up and standing the car
plenty of room to get a wrench up there, and if your lucky maybe even a ratchet wrench. (gearwrench ftw)
Wow guys, dropping the exhaust was too hard, i had to pull the motor to get at them. Y'all are fukt

I used a swivel socket to get to the top nuts, I also had to cut the stud down a tiny bit. Helps having the right tools.

I love you.
How are you complaining about the exhaust. The exhaust on this car has to be the easiest of any car I've ever worked on. I could do it blind folded and one handed in like an hour. The only hard part is the exhaust flange but that's only if the nut hasn't been broken in 20 years. Nothing a little PB blaster, a torch, and some elbow grease can't fix.
