So ive read on wikipedia that some models came with these but I didnt mention which ones. Does anyone know?
It only said "higher equipped" models, but im pretty sure the late version wagon had EDC in the rear.
Sorry if its a stupid question, im no expert yet.
Cheers
Dave
I'm pretty sure things like that were options that people chose to have, though I suspect like most other cars that they became fairly standard on the final years of the model. Even my 1990 535 has the lights on the dash for ASC etc if I recall but doesn't actually have the ability to use any of it. I haven't seen many E34s with those options honestly.
I have both ASC and LSD 535 man build date 02/90 BE63714
Options varied by market. Speaking from experience with US-market cars...
TCS - Traction Control System, right? Can apply brakes to any of the four wheels? Never seen or heard of any E34 like that.
ASC - Automatic Stability Control, applies rear brakes and cuts engine power. It was common on M60 cars, and some M50. AFAIK, no M20. As for M30... maybe with EML?
ASC+T - different in some way I don't know.
EDC - Electronic Damping Control, nothing to do with the brakes. All four shocks are special, with hydraulically-adjustable valving. Possibly also adjusted ride height in the rear (I'm not sure). This was on M5 and 540i M-Sport, possibly optional on other cars.
LAD/SLS - Self-Leveling Suspension. Rear shocks are special, with height adjustment only, no change in valving, nothing special for the front shocks. It was an option on M30 and possibly other sedans, and came standard on 91-93 525i Tourings.
Europe had many more models (diesels, for starters) and many more options. Back in the day, I'm sure you could order a 518g with EDC if you really wanted to.
I think in 1995 the ASC+T was a standard feature. I did not special order it with my car, which I bought new back then, and it has it.
02 e39 540i Sport (Son), 01 DINAN 7 (Me), 12 e70 X5 x35i (Mrs), 95 e34 525i (Daughter 2), 01 e46 325Ci vert (Daughter 1)
If ASC was specced on a 535i, the EML\DK throttle would be used.
I forget that the 5 series doesn't have the traction part of ASC, one of my buddies with an E34 only always said ASC and thought he meant ASC+T on the E32 then realized the traction is separate.

Look inside the rear wheels and see if there are two round pressure tanks above the axles. Or look at the rear shocks and see if there are any hoses connected to them.
Will do tomorrow, thanks!
