New e38 with check rear lights message displayed

All the lights appear to be working. Pulled one of the taillights out and it was sort of a bitch to get back in, is that normal? Would it be a good idea to just get them all replaced for good measure? Currently at 138k miles. Thanks

Not if they are OEM ones. Clean contact board on the back with some sand paper and inspect light bulb sockets for corrosion. Make sure you have correct bulbs in all sockets and no aftermarket "LED" junk.
