    I think I found the biggest issue a E46 can possibly have😐

Hey bimmerforums, i have a couple questions and also in need of a honest opinion from you guys....I'm going to try to explain this as clearly as I possibly can and hopefully (fingers crossed) someone can help me....plus im having multiple problems with this car....I recently bought the 2001 BMW 325i manual and I must admit when I first bought the car it was driving smoothly....untilllllll about one month later.... The first problem I experience with the car was while driving; the whole drive shaft coming out of the assembly where the flex disc connect to the transmission (it literally came apart but the flex disc was still attached to the transmission; the part that disconnected was the part that looks like a gear???? It comes out the transmission but mechanic told me it's called a flange???? he told me he never seen anything like that before) so he recommend it to get the center bearing replace which of course I did and he simply put the flange back in place to connect the driveshaft back to the transmission....ok, after the job was done the back wheel (or something in the rear) felt bad!!!!! When I accelerate fast it feel like the wheel wants to pop off 😓😓😓😓 but once up to speed it goes away.... it's a loud bumping noise instead of a grinding noise (more like a dump, dump, dump, dump, dump noise you can also feel) but when I drive slow I don't feel it....SMH it gets even better trust me lol here's problem #2, i been told by the mechanic (definitely not my mechanic anymore btw) i can drive the car but drive slow until "I get more money so he can check it out more" so two weeks prior to that incident I took a chance driving to work...stop at a red light then it happened 😐😐😐😐😐😐 when the light turned green and I tried putting it in first gear it was grinding not allowing me too SMH tried second, third and fourth and they all was grinding not going into gear...then I start smelling a burning smell....then when I tried pressing the clutch it was making a LOUD NOISE!!! So I turn the car off, press the clutch and put it in second while the car was still off THEN turned the car back on while in second gear (just so I can move it to the side) but the burning smell got worse!!!!! SMH I'm hoping the clutch just gave out again fingers crossed....so my questions is

    1) what's the bumpbumpbump noise/feel coming from the rear?
    2) do I need a new transmission? Or its most likely the clutch/flywheel? (I had clutch go out on me but this was something new)
    3) HONEST OPINION, is it worth taking a chance on? should I just part ways and call it quits on this bimm3r and buy another one? (My friend recommended throwing a new transmission but what you guys think?)

Thanks for your help and hope fully someone will respond 😊 thanks again.

This sounds bad, but you haven't got thew trifecta yet. That appears to be the unsolvable problem.

I’m betting you need a newly rebuilt driveshaft, center support bearing and guibo. There are several very reputable shops online they sell the three parts at very good prices. Bmwdirtracer, a top notch tech and driver recommends http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/...0html/BMW.html.

Your clunk clunk is probably from your driveshaft pop off completely, causing it hit something else, even the ground whatever, causes imbalanced.

As for your second problem, its most like your clutch or throw out bearing is bad, manual tranny don't go bad easily or like that...from smooth to bad...if its your clutch you should feel the clutch not grabbing or low engagement point degraded over time. My money goes to throw out bearing.
