Did they just replace the pan gasket and fluid or were some of the repairs transmission related?
If you foresee a battle with the garage I would start a paper trail in case it is something you ultimately decide to pursue legally. A calmly written Email explaining the situation as well as to recap any conversations is important. You may also consider having another shop look at the vehicle and see what they feel the issues are.
If you feel you were defrauded some states have theft of services laws and this could be a criminal matter but, more than likely not unless you received a written contract of the shops assessment of the cars issues and they gave you a written estimate.
I would even go so far as to record the car's transmission not operating properly.
If it isn't written or documented on video it will be just your word against the shops.
If the garage is corporate owned you can always take your case to upper management, if an independent shop you won't have that ability.
