Hey i got an abs ligh on my cluster in my euro m30b30 and there was a very experienced bmw workshop here in iceland wo connected the car to a diaagnostic tool and there was a problem connecting it to the modules in the car. so they tried another bmw scan tool for old bmw and there was also problem getting signal from from the cars computers. They also tried connecting to the transmission and there was no answer there too. I was hoping anyone here could help me find out what's wrong wth the car.
use a multimeter to test the ABS sensors, here a detailed instruction by a German electr. engineer on the 7 forum, translate that http://www.7-forum.com/forum/showthread.html?t=9358

Okay, then I can see which one of the abs sensors is faulty. But what could be wrong if a obd scanner can not communicate with the car or the computer's?
Happens quite often on older BMW that the tool does not handshake with the newer versions scanner. For a 1987 E32 you need an older version scan tool. That car is pre-OBD. http://www.meeknet.co.uk/e38/Diagnostics.htm
1987 730 with M30B30 probably still has the older version Motronic M1.1, there the number of faults stored is very limited.

Like I wrote in the first place the workshop connected the car to a older version BMW scan tool also with no luck. The mechanic that was working on the car was going to check a wiring diagram because he thought that the communication wire for the computers was faulty. What wire should I check?
wiring diagrams are here http://shark.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/BMW/e32/
I can only assume what the mechanic was looking for, the 20-pin diagnosis port? Here is the pinout of the 20-pin diagnosis port https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...5-OBD-Port-Mod
