M70 intake seal = GOLD

They want $180 PER intake seal for the M70??? Thats... calculating... $720 total!

Has anyone tried sealant? I know Sean from Johan and Seans E32 Page used sealant on both sides of the gaskets with good results, but what are the long term results? A lot of work if it only lasts a few months or a year.

Sealant or supporting silicone gaskets only work if the original gaskets are free of major cracks. If they have lots of cracks, air can get around the sealant.

yes, we so far never needed to buy new gaskets, have done 6 M70 this year, and many the years before, including my one when we replaced the valve gaskets. We never order new seals, just use liquid seal.

Sensor Safe RTV or Reinzosil

+1 on Reinzosil. Its remarkably better than RTV. I used RTV and the manifolds came off easily when I had to remove them for valve train work. With Reinzosil, they were a total pain to remove. But that tells me they sealed well and the bond was strong. Look up proper directions for using them on the intakes. It takes time to seal them right (apply, setup, place, wait, tighten, cure time is 24 hours, etc).

we use some liquid seal from Toyota, because easiest to get here in Japan, no problem at all.
