The team will get 2018 Ferrari power.
Hopefully, with alfa funding they'll become more competitive (also the Ferrari PU). This is very good news for F1 fans! Another historic marque enters F1.
Will be nice to see a possibly competitive Sauber instead of a constant back marker.
Me like.
Ah it'll be good to see LeClerc and Giovanazzi in F1 but I don't think Wehrlein has been able to show what he's got since the teams he's driven for have been terrible. Shame but understandable if they do go with 2 academy drivers. Also Wehrlein is a Merc junior (IIRC) so it's not likely they'll keep him.
Alfa Romeo is Ferrari/Fiat now. It used to be totally separate car manufacturer.
That really makes sense. This news is further proof that Alfa really is on the rise, long term. I'm super excited!
Sauber will definitely have at least similar resources to when they were able to 'do their thing' and punch above their weight instead of languishing so bad that there was no sense really.
It's interesting to see how this sort of forms a southern European F1 base, something to rival the British main F1 base. Ferrari were doing a fantastic job but were always at a disadvantage being so far away, not in 'the F1 hub'. Now they not only have their resources which were putting up a hell of a fight (alone), but a slight expansion. Sure, Hinwil is about 500 km from Modena, but that's basically a stone's throw in many ways. It won't hurt to mix some focused Swiss mentality and precision with the Italian drive and engineering tradition.
Next we need a Haas-Dodge tie-up and we're golden, FCA will get full podiums!
