Hi,
Some trouble with my November 1994 850 Ci M73
Gas pedal doesn't reply.
I just bought the car and the issue was already existing.
Looks like the EML module has been changed because the part number for the module is 1 429 152 which looks to be for cars from 1996. I assume this isnot the correct part for my car.
Does anyone know which EML module can be installed on my car ?
Looks like the only compatible modules are 12711741593 or 12711745074 which limits my chances to find the right part.
Thanks !
RealOEM shows that 12711741593 and 12711745074 were both used on the E38 750 as well as the E31, so their availability should be a little better than is the case with some E31 only parts. It also shows both as still available from the dealer, but that information has been wrong before.

Eml means electronic malfunction light, not to be confused with the check engine light and in most cases eml light has to do with the electronic flyby wire throttle body's. In the old days people might take them apart and clean out the debris from the worn brushes, because there is a little motor in that throttle body assy that's makes the butterfly's move.
This is a problem I have seen on the E38 fitted with the M73 engine - and the fix (if this is the case) seems like witchcraft - but it has worked on numerous occasions:
1. Turn ignition to position 2, wait 3-5 seconds
2. Push the throttle pedal all the way down and activate kick down switch, hold it for 3-5 seconds
3. Let off the pedal completely, wait 3-5 seconds
4. Push the throttle pedal all the way down and activate kick down switch, hold it for 3-5 seconds
5. Let off the pedal completely, wait 3-5 seconds
6. Turn off ignition, wait at least 10 seconds.
This problem occurs if the basic adaptation is not performed as described here:

My guess is that the witchcraft detailed above bypasses the need to use DIS or ModiC for the basic adaptation
EML is a loose translation from German, Electronic Motor Load, Elektronische Motorleistungsregelung

@Timm
I tried this but didn't get any result.
Probably due to the EML module installed (1429152) which doesn't seem to be compatible.
@Mike
I will check with the dealer if the part is still available.
thanks
1 429 152 : Siemens module (will never work, it is for the 5.4l engine)
Your car has the bosch modules.
....dealer... yes, expensive, just buy one of ebay (probably 1/10th of new price) and just swap and test.
Or use a friends 850's one... most can be changed/swapped in same year range (we do this all the time at the club......).
If that does not work.... it can still be the gas-pedal unit (but does not happen that often), milage on the car ?

sorry .... missed that... if M73 it is siemens, 130K .... not likely the pedal unit.
Swap EML would be the first thing......(I assume it does start and idle).

I'll try to change the module first.
I purchased another module on eBay with reference 1 429 152 but letter J (instead of E wich is the one installed on the car).
Not really confident anyway because as I said earlier this reference doesn't seem to fit Nov 94 E31.
