Aux water pump failed big timeont to

After working on my 94 840 for the last few months, I was ready to drive it.

Yesterday I took the car out for my first 15 mile ride. Outside of a drivers side suspension clunk, soft brakes and pop up lights which refuse to cycle even after a new relay, most of the issues have been sorted and it ran very well. Came home and was quite pleased. So, i decided to get coffee and on the way back the aux water pump split (looking exactly like the photo on Timm’s site) and dumped all the coolant. By the time i rolled into my driveway, cars in the red.

Today i pulled the plugs and hoped. Nothing doing. Compression front to back: drivers side = 100, 90, 100, 115; passenger side = 130, 125, 140, 160, Bypassed the pump and refilled. Although the car idled ok cold, white smoke and the sounds of a miss at idle as it warmed.

I’m committed to finishing the car. It’s all part of the journey (so I keep telling myself). The question is, replace the head gasket or the entire motor? Can the heads be done with the block in the car?

Although mine looked fine, check those pumps. Mine got me and good!

Head gasket is not the only thing that would need to be replaced. When these all-aluminum engines overheat, the cylinder bores tend to get a little egg-shaped. This usually results in your engine being transformed into this:

    mancave stuff

but he is right, if it start blowing smoke, could also be blue/ish and using oil , some bore´s could be egg shaped.
if so don´t drive-run it, it will clog the cat´s !
    check oil.....does it contain water

Just curious, can these engines be sleeved?

Alusil can be honed by anyone in their basement, Nikasil is different because it's a plating.

No insurance but it's been done over and over again.
