    Gas pedal disconnected

I drove my car this morning...went to back into the garage and the gas pedal must have become disconnected from the cable. I looked at the cable under the hood and it looks fine there. Is this a common thing for the cable to come loose at the pedal? I was able to back the car into the garage with the car at idle...luckily .

Its the grommet between the cable and the pedal.
I've had it fall apart when entering a freeway.. most embarrassing.

Thanks...! I found a couple of articles showing the "hook" on the end of the cable. Good to know about the grommet.

I was thinking to myself....I'm glad it happened sitting right in front of my garage instead of out on the highway .

It's issues like this that (more often than not) keep me from scooting out into traffic when there's just enough space--especially if there's a semi coming--thanks for the reminder.

35411164739 is the grommet for the other end at the throttle body, I think. It's not listed on realoem for all of the vehicles it should be. I had a bear of a time tracking that end down. I had to modify a different grommet to fit instead, so I'm going to order this one now that I remember.

    Grommet No. 14 disintegrates:

That allows the cable to pull out of the pedal.

The black grommet and brass cable end are shown in the upper right of this photo:
