Sluggish Acceleration

I bought a 2007 523i recently, it is getting sluggish on me. The car seems to be working harder than normal and I have to really press on the pedal to get things moving. I took it to a local workshop and the computer test shows 2AA1 and 2AA8 codes for the camshaft sensor and variable intake servomotor. The mechanic found that the plastic DISA valve was broken so he replaced it but it didn't solve the issue and caused hesitation/hickups issue which was fixed after changing the one of the spark plugs but the sluggishness is still there.

Any suggestions what could be the issue?

Sluggish performance could be a number of things. Was the mechanic not able to pin point it?
