HI !
Just purchased a 1995 525I. So this is the story he told me..
Previous Owner had got newer tail lights for the car and hooked them up. Took the car for a drive and while he shut the car off for fuel he lost day time running lights in the rear and the gauge cluster.. there is also no license plate light on. The lower part of the gauge cluster is on and the radio still works etc. Just wondering where would be the the best place to start looking would be? ive done some searching but havent really found quite the same scenario. New to this forum, Will post picture when I figure out how. We also Got a fresh dump of snow the last 2 days, around a foot or so. Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada (way up north). itll be parked for the winter as the body is in really condition or think it is anyways being a 95 and in Canada.
Also I totally Forgot. The drivers side door lock is not working. to be more exact, you put the key in and it just turns all the way around like it has came fully disconnected from everything. I will be taking the door panel off soon to fix the "window glass falling when hitting the power button for up and down" im assuming that its out of its clips??
Thanks for any input! excited to join the Bimmer world!

broken cables to rear trunk can cause very strange shorts
Double check his wiring for the tail lights, if any was done. Check the trunk hinge wiring as mentioned above and check fuses. Do the upper gauges still work, just not lit up?
Will Check those places first tomorrow, Gauges work just no back light.. lower half of cluster works where the info center is.
if those all check out.. whats next lol Thanks again
