    $220 M-Technic Makeover

My 1994 325is was looking pretty tired and run down.

So I found this on my handy local social media marketplace.

I took off all of the ugly.

The awkward girl from high school just got really hot.

Roll credits, I love a happy ending.

Thanks, those do make a big difference I will have the mirrors and side skirts soon, and some other things.

When I took it apart and handled the headlights two of the inner lenses fell out of their mounting points. Now I am going to have to crack the housings open and re-adhere all of the lenses and re-seal the case. I am wishing I had a set of Kinobi Lighting 7000k LED halos to install while I'm doing the refurb.

Doing one thing on these cars seems to seamlessly lead to another.

I don't like driving automatics. I bought a new 2014 Jeep JKU 3 years ago, got a manual in it as well. My first car was a 240z 4 speed.

On top of that the older BMW automatics tend to have problems. Owners tend not to change fluid out on autos and a lot of them had inherent problems that showed up over time.

Manuals are robust and simple. The BMW manuals are some of the smoothest shifting on the planet. Keep the fluid topped and fresh and they will last nearly forever excepting the clutch.

The experience of shifting a manual smoothly through the gears with skill, and knowing exactly what gear to drop into for each curve on your favorite road is unmatchable by automation.

On the new BMW's, the computer shifted manuals have been plagued with very expensive problems.

I am going Sunday to pick up the M-Technic twist Side Skirts, Front Fenders, Passenger door, Mirrors, Side Trim, Steering wheel, Exhaust, and a set of Double spoke style 68's.

Between the mechanical upgrade parts and installing the M-Technic parts, I should have my fill of E36 fun for a while.

If you would get the serial number of the m-tec, I will update the registry. It might be on the fenders, the build sheet will be stapled to the bottom of the rear seat.

The door handles, both of them, are a true find.

The serial on the M3 I got the parts from? I will look on the fenders I got.

The guy I got this stuff from gets wrecked M3's constantly and salvages all of the usable parts. I would bet he has personally dismantled quite a few. He has sold the shell of this one, it was in the range of being repaired.

Is it an M Technic or an M3? I thought they were different.

Gave away my BMWs, driving a VW and an Audi now.

They are M3 parts, M-Technic packages came out on other cars also, or were available as an option I think.

M3 Luxury bumper was apart the Mtech package, correct? That is a standard M3 bumper.

I'm not aware of any difference in the M3 front bumpers. This was off a sport model. The side skirts are the twist type, not luxury. I got the entire kit (including the rear wing, I probably won't use that). I haven't Installed the rest of it, I am waiting on the install hardware kit with new gaskets.

The grill area on the luxury bumper is different compared to the regular M3.

Gotcha. It may just be an illusion, but the "luxury" bumper looks shorter in height.

I don't care much for the lux version.
