2009 328i E90 N52 Cylinder Misfire after MARINE FOAM Additive

2009 328i E90 Cylinder Misfire after SEAFOAM gas additive

i don’t know if it is related to:
    - Gas Additive Marine Foam
    - Little oil leak from valve cover and oil heat exchanger.
    - End of life spark plug or ignition coil.

I just bought this car a year ago and started with Syntetic oil PENTO HIGH PERFORMANCE 5W-30; maybe that move to syntetic is the reason of the leak. I bought it with 50K miles and now is 90k miles.
    1. Will it be a good idea to switch to syntetic oil Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-40 to control leaking mean while?

    2. Do you think that oil leak on the spark plug, or in the coil may be the cause of Mysfire cylinder 4?
    3. How bad is to continue driving as is fo 1 hour, 30 miles in traffic?

    Edit:
I removed the coil #4 and found some 10 drops of oil on the plug hole. No signs of the oil coming from upside, and no oil gound on the coil.
I moved the coil to another cylinder and yes, the Misfire followed the coil; so I will replace it.
    Any advice?
    4. Will it be the valve cover gasket, or something lower or deeper on the block?
    5. I have my Thanksgiving trip tomorrow ...... no autoparts open in miami.... if I replace only one spar plug tha I found.... how bad?

    Plesse help me out !

To rule out the coil, move it to another cylinder and see if the misfire follows the coil.

After getting a DTC “Cylinder Misfiring #4”, I did move the coil 4 to other cylinder (2), and yes, the Misfire followed the coil. I use a DCR icarsoft CR Plus to read the codes.
Thank you ! So Replacing the coil should be enough?

Tomorrow is thanksgiving day....and no store will be open to buy the coil.
I don’t know how bad will be for the car if I travel 60 +60 miles to go to my reunion ???
    Please advice me on that.

I am not sure, but my oil cap may have been lose; I just thigten it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you !!

Yes, you found your problem and it will be fairly inexpensive to fix.

Driving your car for the day should not hurt it, but I am no expert.

It will run rough, but still function.

    Happy Thanksgiving to your family!

I hope this thread to be usefull to other people.
Replacing the coil was enough, did not change the spark plug, and I am planing to change the whole set in near future.
I don't know if it was the oil that contaminated the coil rubber tip....I will clean it and reinstall to see if once removed the oil it works, or not.

Yes I was able to drive 120 miles with no aparent damage. The rough feeling dissapears when cruising at 60mph. only when accelerating is felt.
    Thank You
