Is it possible to change out the illumination bulb that sits behind the HAVAC controls without taking a bunch of stuff apart? Thanks in advance for any ideas or instructions. John
Hi ....
If it's a post '80 model have a look at this post. There's a photo of how it works.

You can get enough access through the top speaker grill. The lamp socket pulls out of the holder for the end of the light pipes that go to the various controls.
I used a flexible claw type "pickup tool" to maneuver the lamp socket back into position and a long thin screwdriver to push it in.
Cheers
hmm .. Wonder what happens if I do this ...
GDAus, thanks much for the information and the link...I'm on it. By the way, say hello to the crazy lawyer in the TV series, "Rake." John
If it's pre-80 it's not bad at all to disconnect and rewire them. I actually soldered new lights to the board, and I still haven't found the proper tiny plug in bulbs for the clock, but I haven't looked that hard either

Somjuan, does your car have a digital clock? Mine is an "83 with a digital clock which I thought was kaputt. I then discovered a burned out back light bulb. I can't remember where I sourced it, but I did not have any trouble finding a replacement bulb. John
Analog. Was it one of those tiny black cylinder ones?
