Alright,
I really need your help on this one:
We got a 2003 E46 330ci with a automatic transmission (110.000km on the clock). about 3 weeks ago. The transmission went into limp mode a few days ago due to a bad position switch, replaced that -> problem gone.
However, the car developed a really weird noise which I can't really locate or explain, so I got it on video:
It is some sort of "grinding" or "howling" sound....
When the noise first occured while driving, it disappeared the second I noticed it. It didn't come back for a few days, then it suddenly happened with the car idling...
It is not really connected to the car idling, driving, being in gear or being revd up, It seems completely random...
I really hope someone can help me out...
Thanks

The first step in diagnosing any problem is to scan the engine d computer (DME) and the tranny computer (EGS) for codes. Abnormal noise is an indication of a problem, but codes are used to find the root cause.
Hi,
The Scan came out completely clean - absolutely no Codes.
The noise also doesn't affect anything, the engine idles perfect and revs up with no hestitation through all gears. The transmission shifts precisely and smooth in all modes...
The car runs super nice except for that odd noise...
